Apparently my comments system was semi-broken. It's fixed now.

Love and Radio (the story-based NPR podcast I sometimes contribute to) has a fancy new site! Check it out!

The site was illustrated by our friend Laurence, who is a super-talented illustrator. Check him out too!

I'll be contributing a couple stories to an upcoming episode, themed "Secrets." I just have to decide which of my secrets I'd like to tell to the entire internet.

This is a t-shirt design I made yesterday. Initial reports are that it's too complicated. I'm not sure that I agree.

When I'm drunk, everything spins counter-clockwise. I'm interested to know if it's different for anyone else.

I have exactly one week to find an apartment, before I'm kicked out of my current apartment. This is the same miserable position I was in last year. It's a miserable position.

Sitting idly in JFK, I kept myself busy by reconfiguring the port-forwarding settings of Jetblue's 'Wireless Hotspot' so I can download last night's episode of 'Lost' more quickly. I find it alarming that it's easier to configure the airport's internet router than it is the router in my living room.

(I also find it alarming how quickly this weblog is devolving into a 'Lost' fansite. )

Speaking of 'Lost,' you know what ridiculous website I get a surprising amount of use out of?

I was on Oahu a few weeks ago--which is cool to say because it sounds like I'm into weird, exotic, Aztec drugs--though in actuality I was just in Hawaii. Oahu is the Hawaiian island where Lost is filmed (and also other things happen that no one cares about).

Anyway, I was watching Lost last week, and sure enough--there was a picture I'd taken! Right there, on the picture box! After comparing my photo to the episode (as shown below), it was pretty obvious that it's actually a different beach, though I was only a mile or two down the beach from where they film the show--which explains why I constantly referred to anyone I didn't recognize as "one of the others."

Michelle Rodriguez, as seen on last week's 'Lost.'

Me, as seen on next week's 'Lost,' in which I rent one of the suspiciously cheap bedrooms in the hatch, only to learn that a deafening siren goes off every 108 minutes.

This article is hilarious:
BBC names "wrong Guy" in mix-up

The BBC has revealed that a bewildered man it interviewed live on TV in the mistaken belief he was the editor of a technology website was, quite literally, "the wrong Guy."

He was Guy Goma, a graduate from central Africa, who had gone to the BBC's News 24 studios for a job interview.

Goma sat down in the BBC reception and waited to be called for the interview. A producer greeted him, led him to a studio, seated him on a stool and clipped a microphone to his lapel.

A business presenter then introduced the clearly startled Goma as the editor of a technology website and asked if he was surprised by computer company Apple's victory in a trademark dispute with The Beatles' Apple Corp.

He gamely answered, and grappled with two more questions about music downloading, before the flustered presenter thanked him and moved on.
UPDATE: You can watch the interview on YouTube!

The good news: Our super finally fixed our ever-leaky shower! And it only took him eleven and a half months! These last two weeks of living there sure will be sweet! Or at least they would be, if it weren't for:

The bad news: He fixed the shower by removing both the knobs, rendering it impossible to turn on the shower. This discovery was a disappointing way to start my day.

A couple of cats are having some very loud sex in the bushes across the street. It's an annoyingly noisy ordeal, the likes of which I've never heard before. I wish they'd finish up already. I'm embarrassed by how long they've been going at it.

UPDATE: Now the cats are gone, and a couple of Jamaicans are having a very loud argument on the sidewalk across the street. It's an annoyingly noisy ordeal, the likes of which I've never heard before. I wish they'd finish up already. I'm embarrassed by how long they've been going at it.

I was thinking: I've been sick for three days. I've had a fever, I've been sweating profusely, my back is sore, my heart feels strange, and I've had constant, pounding headaches on one side of my head. But at least my horrible allergies have gone away, thanks to Claritin-D.

And then I realized...I've been sick for three days, which is exactly as long as I've been taking Claritin-D.

I searched around the internet to see if it was possible that the drug--the wonderful drug that has so eloquently silenced my incessant sneezing--could possibly be causing the many things that are currently wrong with me. The good news? It turns out I'm not sick after all! I'm just experiencing a few of the many horrible side-effects of my over-the-counter allergy medication! The bad news? I have to decide between the absolutely terrible way I feel on Claritin and the absolutely terrible way I feel without it.

My office phone rang, and I picked it up.
"I have got the perfect apartment for you."
    "Excuse me?"
He sighed, as if he was annoyed that I hadn't recognized his voice.
"Ben, this is Gary from Century Real Estate, we spoke last week. I have your next apartment."
"Oh. Oh! That's great!" I said, "Tell me about it!"
    "It's a three-bedroom."
    "Okay..."
    "It's in your price range."
    "Great..."
"And it's on 13th street in Park Slope!"
"Umm..." I paused, "Is it building number 243?"
    "Yeah...how did you--"
    I continued, "Apartment 10?"
He paused for a second before getting it.
    "IS THAT YOUR APARTMENT?!"
    "YES!"
"Wow! That's so funny!" he exclaimed.
    "I KNOW!"
We both laughed for fifteen seconds. With me still on the phone, he related our entire conversation to the other agents in his office. Everyone had a good laugh.
"Seriously though, man," he said, taking on a half-serious tone, "you have got to clean that place! I showed your apartment to some people yesterday and they were absolutely horrified! It's a goddamn mess! You need to yell at whoever lives in the master bedroom!"
    "That's my room!" I exclaimed.
"Dude! he said, sternly, "CLEAN YOUR ROOM!"
